About
Fire Safety Level 2 is an essential training programme designed for all staff working in Supported Accommodation for young people aged sixteen to twenty five. This course provides a clear and practical understanding of fire safety responsibilities within shared living environments and focuses on the unique needs, vulnerabilities and behaviours of young people in care or semi independent settings. Learners will explore the legal and regulatory framework, including the Fire Safety Order, the Supported Accommodation England Regulations and Ofsted expectations. The course covers identifying fire hazards, preventing risk, understanding alarm and detection systems, building layouts, evacuation procedures and the development of Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans. Staff will gain confidence in responding to real incidents, supporting distressed young people, using fire safety equipment safely and completing accurate record keeping. The training places strong emphasis on trauma informed practice, recognising that fire alarms and emergency situations may impact young people differently based on their past experiences. Through case studies, scenarios, practical guidance and reflection activities, staff will learn how to guide and reassure young people effectively during drills or emergencies. By the end of the course, learners will understand how to contribute to a positive fire safety culture, meet regulatory expectations and maintain a safe environment that protects and empowers young people.
