About

This comprehensive training course equips all staff working in supported accommodation with the knowledge, skills and confidence to identify, prevent and respond to bullying effectively. Young people in semi independent settings often arrive with experiences of trauma, instability, exclusion or previous bullying, which makes a safe and respectful living environment essential. This course supports staff to understand how bullying presents in shared living environments, how power imbalances develop, and how trauma can influence both those who experience bullying and those who display harmful behaviour. The course explores all key forms of bullying including physical, verbal, relational, online and identity based, with a strong focus on early recognition and intervention. Staff learn how to create an inclusive culture where young people feel valued and heard, and how consistent boundaries, fair expectations and clear modelling of respect prevent bullying behaviours from taking hold. Practical strategies for restoring relationships, supporting emotional recovery and promoting positive peer dynamics are built into each module. Leadership, policy and compliance are integrated throughout the course, ensuring staff understand their responsibilities and how their actions contribute to safeguarding and Ofsted expectations. Clear guidance on reporting, recording, follow up and pattern monitoring helps services build strong governance and demonstrate a culture of safety and accountability. By the end of the course, staff will be equipped to create a living environment where young people feel safe, supported and empowered to thrive.
