About

Every young person deserves to live in a safe, respectful and inclusive environment where their background, beliefs and identity are valued. This Equality and Diversity in Supported Accommodation course gives staff the knowledge and confidence to promote fairness, challenge discrimination and create a culture where every young person can succeed. Designed for support workers, key workers and managers, this in depth course explores how equality and inclusion are built into daily practice. Learners will understand the Equality Act 2010, the Supported Accommodation England Regulations 2023, and key national guidance such as Working Together to Safeguard Children and Ofsted inspection standards. The course focuses on practical skills such as communication, reflection and how to respond appropriately when discrimination occurs. Through realistic examples and professional case studies, learners will explore unconscious bias, recognise the impact of everyday behaviour and understand how to make daily routines and decisions more inclusive. The course also covers how to empower young people to share their opinions, take part in decisions about their homes and influence positive change in their supported accommodation. By the end of the training, staff will be able to model inclusive behaviour, promote equality as part of safeguarding practice and demonstrate compliance with Ofsted expectations. Each module encourages reflection and teamwork, helping staff build confidence and show respect for diversity in every interaction. Completing this training helps your service meet national standards of equality and inclusion, creating supported accommodation that values individuality and supports young people to build confident, independent futures.
